RICHMOND, Va. – Top-seeded St. Bonaventure knocked off fourth-seeded Saint Louis 71-53 on Saturday in the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Basketball Championship.
The Billikens fall to 14-6 with the loss. The Bonnies (15-4) advance to next Sunday's championship final against either VCU or Davidson.Â
Jordan Goodwin led the Billikens with 11 points and seven rebounds, while Javonte Perkins chipped in 10 points.Â
Gibson Jimerson hit three triples and finished with nine points. Fred Thatch Jr. (seven points)Â and Marten Linssen (six points) also contributed to the offense. Yuri Collins dished out nine assists.
The Billikens were out rebounded 35-27. SLU shot just 33.3 percent in the first half and 36.5 percent for the game.
Jalen Adaway led the Bonnies with 17 points. Center Osun Osunniyi blocked seven shots for the Bonnies, who also forced SLU into 11 turnovers.
Perkins scored the first basket of the game to give SLU an early 2-0 lead, but the Bonnies responded with an 11-0 to go up by nine points, and they never looked back.
St. Bonaventure led 33-25 at the half. It maintained a double-digit lead for much of the second half.
