ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis men's soccer defeated Duquesne 4-0 on Saturday in the Atlantic 10 Conference regular-season finale at Hermann Stadium.Â
The Billikens (9-4, 4-2 A-10), winners of two in a row, have qualified for the A-10 Men's Soccer Championship. The bracket will be released later tonight. Duquesne falls to 2-5 overall and 2-4 in the Atlantic 10.Â
Mujeeb Murana got the Billikens on the board in the 10th minute. He collected a deflected shot off the foot of Patrick Wilkinson and buried it into the net for a 1-0 SLU lead.Â
Moments later, Mason Leeth put the Billikens up 2-0. Murana started the scoring play with a long pass that was deflected to a streaking Leeth. He blasted a shot that was initially poked by a Dukes defender, but the momentum of the shot carried the ball over the line. 2-0 was the score at halftime.Â
Christian Buendia made it 3-0 SLU with a goal in the 72nd minute. He took a pass from Chris Alwang straight on and ripped one into the back of the net.Â
Jack Mika scored for the final 4-0 margin. He sent a shot into the upper netting after work by John Klein and Simon Becher to set up the scoring play.Â
Patrick Schulte (two saves) and Ty Frederking combined for the shutout in goal for SLU.Â
