Four-Run Innings and Bullpen Propel Billikens to Victory

GAME DETAILS
• Saint Louis used two four-run innings and the bullpen's five frames of one-run ball to take down No. 25 Indiana State in the series finale Saturday afternoon at Billiken Sports Center.
• The Billikens improved to 8-18 on the season, while Indiana State went to 13-8.
• Charlie Sheehan picked up his second win of the season, after tossing 4.0 innings of relief, scattering two hits and one run and striking out six.

SCORING
• Indiana State scored the game's first runs on Seth Gergely's two-run home run in the top of the third inning.
• Jake Garella smacked a two-RBI double and Cam Redding connected on his third home run of the season to give the Billikens a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the third.
• Indiana State tied the game at 4-4 with a solo shot and an RBI single in top of the fourth.
• Jordan Schaffer's home run in the top of the fifth frame gave the lead back to INST at 5-4.
• A big four-run sixth inning gave the Billikens an 8-5 lead. Ryan Hernandez, Tyler Fogarty and Cole Smith collected RBI singles in the frame.

BILLIKEN NOTABLES
• Ryan Patel struck out the only two batters he faced in the ninth inning and collected his first save of the season.
• Sheehan's 4.0 innings and six strikeouts were season highs.
• Garella (2-4), Hernandez (2-4) and Fogarty (2-3) each tallied two hits in the game. Garella added two RBIs and one run. Fogarty scored twice and drove in one.
• The win is the first Billiken victory over a ranked opponent since they defeated No. 23 Illinois on March 20, 2019.
