Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Billikens Rout Bonnies for Key A-10 Win

ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis scored early and often in a 6-1 Atlantic 10 Conference men's soccer victory at Robert R. Hermann Stadium on Saturday night.

The victory improves the Billikens to 8-4 overall and 3-2 in league play. St. Bonaventure dips to 4-3-1 and 1-3-1 in the league. SLU keeps pace with Dayton (3-1-1 A-10) in its pod and can win the division with a win next week over Duquesne and a Dayton loss.

John Klein and Simon Becher each scored twice. Mujeeb Murana and Jack Mika (first-career goal) also tallied for the Billikens as SLU posted a season-high six goals.

Klein opened the scoring in the second minute when he finished off the assists from Mason Leeth and Christian Buendia.

SLU struck twice in the 13 minute. Klein scored on a pretty give-and-go from Becher. Then moments later, Mujeeb Murana scored from distance to make it a 3-0 Billikens lead.

In the 17th minute, Patrick Wilkinson fed a pass to Becher, who placed a shot into the back of the net for the Billikens' fourth goal.

St. Bonaventure got one back on a PK, and SLU took a 4-1 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Becher tallied his second of the game when he took advantage of a St. Bonaventure miscue and buried the ball into the back of the net.

Mika recorded his first-career goal in the 73rd minute when he got on the end of a long Stefan Stojanovic ball that found its way into the box. Mika slipped one past the St. Bonaventure defender that was on the line for the 6-1 final.

The Billikens conclude the regular season next Saturday night when they face Duquesne at Robert R. Hermann Stadium for Senior Night. Game time is 6 p.m.
