ST. LOUIS – Katie Houck netted the game's only goal in the ninth minute as Saint Louis defeated Evansville 1-0 in an exhibition game Saturday night at Robert R. Hermann Stadium.
 
Houck scored on a corner kick taken by Hannah Sawyer. Sawyer and Jess Preusser recorded assists on the play.
 
Emily Puricelli made three saves for the Billikens, who outshot Evansville 12-6 overall and 8-3 in shots on goal. SLU registered a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.
 
Saint Louis, ranked 21st in the United Soccer Coaches preseason poll, opens the regular season Thursday, Aug. 19, against Xavier. Kickoff at Hermann Stadium is slated for 7 p.m.
