Billikens Pick Up Road Win at Duquesne

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Saint Louis had four players score in double figures in a 77-53 win at Duquesne Saturday in Atlantic 10 Conference men's basketball action at the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse.

It was the third straight victory for the Billikens, who improve to 14-6 overall and 5-2 in the A-10. Duquesne falls to 6-12 overall and 1-5 in the league.

Francis Okoro and Fred Thatch Jr. led the way offensively for the Billikens with 14 points apiece. Okoro added a team-high eight rebounds.

Yuri Collins posted his sixth double-double of the season with an 11-point, 10-assist effort. He also collected seven rebounds and posted four steals.

Gibson Jimerson hit a pair of treys en route to 12 points.

The Billiken defense forced the Dukes into 20 turnovers. SLU ended up outscoring Duquesne 24-3 in points off of turnovers. Saint Louis also won the battle on the boards 43-37.

The teams were trading the lead early on before a 3-point barrage for the Billikens opened up the game. Thatch, Jimerson (two), and Rashad Williams connected from downtown to give SLU a double-digit lead at 6:36 of the first half. The Billikens would not relinquish the double-digit advantage the rest of the way. Collins hit a trey at the first-half buzzer to send Billikens into the lockerroom leading 42-29.

Saint Louis came out hot in the second half, opening the session on a 10-2 run to force a Duquesne timeout. Duquesne was unable to challenge the rest of the way as SLU cruised to the 24-point win.

It was the Billikens' first win at Duquesne since the 2013-14 season, snapping an 0-6 skid.

SLU is back in action on Wednesday night when it travels to Fairfax, Virginia, to take on the George Mason Patriots. Game time is 6 p.m. (CT) on ESPN+.
