Four Billikens Score Double Digits in Loss at UNI

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — Northern Iowa used a 49-point second half to pull ahead of Saint Louis in an 84-64 victory for the Panthers Sunday afternoon at McLeod Center in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

The Billikens moved to 1-2 on the season, while UNI went to 2-0.

"When you're on the road, you have to be really, really tough," said head coach Rebecca Tillett. "You have to respond to whatever the environment is, and I think our women were trying to do that. We just have to get a little more experience doing it together."

Camree Clegg led the Billikens with 20 points, while also registering four assists. She knocked down three 3-pointers, going 6-13 from the field and 5-5 from the free throw line.

"Confidence," Clegg said. "They were trying to go under the ball screen, so I was just trying to make the right read and trying to find my teammates in the process. They found me open, I found my open shots and I was able to hit them."

Kyla McMakin finished with 16 points, including going 5-6 from the charity stripe.

"The screens my teammates set and the passes, they always kind of give me that little bit of daylight that I need to get the shot off," McMakin said.

SLU trailed 35-32 at the half. The Panthers put up 21 three-point field goal attempts in the first half, only making six of them.

A 10-0 run to end the third quarter put UNI up 59-45 after three frames, and the Panthers outscored SLU 25-19 in the fourth.

Brooke Flowers recorded her 29th career double-double and second in as many games, with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Peyton Kennedy finished with 11 points and seven rebounds, including five on the offensive glass.

"Despite the outcome today, there were things we got better at," Tillett said. "And then there were things that were revealed to us that we need to get better at quickly, which is common with a new group together."

The Billikens hit the road Tuesday for a tilt at Missouri State in Springfield, Mo.
