COLUMBIA, Mo. — Brooke Flowers became Saint Louis' all-time leader in rebounds at Missouri Wednesday night, but the Billikens fell to the Tigers, 82-52, at Mizzou Arena in Columbia, Mo.
The Billikens moved to 2-8 on the season, while Mizzou improved to 7-1.
Missouri went 14-27 (.519) from behind the arc in the game.
"I thought early on they were getting so many open looks that their confidence just shot through the roof and ours got knocked a little bit," head coach Rebecca Tillett said.
Flowers finished with five rebounds and three blocks and is now SLU's all-time leader in both categories, 1,005 rebounds and 306 blocked shots.
"I think it's pretty amazing," Flowers said. "It's something that I never really thought would happen, but it's definitely a proud moment."
Briana Johns collected a team-best 12 points, all coming from behind the arc.
"It felt pretty good," Johns said. "Not satisfied because we didn't get the win, but as we continue to get better, those threes will actually make an impact in the game and it will feel better."
Despite connecting on four shots from behind the arc, the Billikens found themselves trailing 22-14 at the end of the first quarter.
After Missouri opened the second quarter on 10-0 run, the Billikens held them scoreless for over a four-minute stretch, but just two SLU field goals in the frame put the score at 37-19 at the half.
The Tigers took a 27-point advantage at 54-27 with 6:08 left in the third quarter, but the Billikens responded with a 10-0 run to cut the deficit to 17. Three Missouri treys to end the period put the Tigers up 63-37 at the end of three.
Johns hit two of her team-best four treys in the fourth quarter, leading the Billikens with 12 points, but Mizzou came away with the 82-52 victory
SLU returns home Saturday for a 7 p.m. tip against Illinois State at Chaifetz Arena.
