GAME DETAILS
• After trailing 5-2 entering the bottom of the ninth inning, Saint Louis scored two and had the bases loaded, but Bowling Green escaped with the victory Sunday afternoon at Hoover Metropolitan Complex in Hoover, Ala.
• Bowling Green took the series from the Billikens, improving to 2-1 on the season, while SLU moved to 1-2.
• Matt Happ posted a three-hit day
SCORING
• Both teams found the scoring column in the second inning. Bowling Green pushed across three runs, including a two-run double from Gavin Ganun. Kyle Fitzgerald led off the frame with a walk, and Cameron Swanger advanced him to third base with a double. Fitzgerald scored on a Cam Redding groundout.
• SLU posted another run in the bottom of the fourth, with Fitzgerald scoring on an RBI single from Swanger.
• Bowling Green picked up two insurance runs in its half of the ninth inning, scoring on an RBI triple and adding another on a throwing error.
• Happ slapped a double to right field in the bottom of the ninth inning, bringing home Cole Smith, and then scored on the play on a throwing error by the outfielder.
