GAME DETAILS
• Saint Louis came out on top in both games of the doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Billiken Sports Center in St. Louis, Mo.
• The Billikens improved to 3-6 on the season, while UNC went to 1-11.
GAME ONE SCORING
• Kyle Fitzgerald's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first inning gave SLU an early advantage.
• Both teams found the scoring column in the second frame. The Bears scored on an RBI double, while SLU collected runs on a Cam Redding RBI single and a wild pitch.
• Cole Smith crossed the plate in the bottom of the third to put the Billikens up 4-1.
• Logan Turner's two-RBI double brought UNC within one in the top of the fourth.
• SLU responded with three runs in its half of the fourth. Tyler Fogarty and Fitzgerald posted RBI singles, while Mark Vierling brought home Nolan Bowser on a sacrifice fly.
• Josh Glenn connected on a solo home run in the top of the fifth for the Bears.
• Fitzgerald smacked a solo shot to left field in the bottom of the seventh.
• UNC recorded three runs in the top of the seventh, including a two-RBI single by Jake King.
GAME ONE NOTABLES
• Fitzgerald and Smith both went 3-for-3 in the game. Fitzgerald had three RBIs, while Smith scored twice.
• Redding finished 2-for-2 with two runs scored.
• Logan Schmitt picked up his second win of the season, throwing 6.0 innings and allowing just two earned runs and striking out four.
GAME TWO SCORING
• SLU tallied four runs in the first inning, including RBI doubles from Fogarty and Vierling.
• The Billikens added another three runs in the second. Matt Happ scored on an error, and Cameron Swanger drove in two with a double.
• The Bears scored their only run of the game on an RBI groundout in the seventh.
GAME TWO NOTABLES
• Vierling finished 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.
• Swanger went 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs.
• Scott Youngbrandt picked up his first win of the year, tossing 5.0 scoreless innings with five strikeouts.
