• Mark Vierling posted four extra-base hits, including two home runs, and drove in five runs, but Rhode Island defeated Saint Louis 19-13 Saturday afternoon in an Atlantic 10 Conference game at Bill Beck Field in Kingston, R.I.
• The Billikens dipped to 25-21 on the season, 11-8 in A-10 play, while Rhode Island improved to 19-30, 13-7.
• The Rams scored in each of the first six innings and held a 19-6 advantage at the end of the seventh.
• SLU crossed the plate seven times in the eighth frame to pull within six at 19-13.
• Rhode Island blanked the Billikens in the ninth to finish off a 19-13 victory.
BILLIKEN NOTABLES
• Vierling finished 4-5 with two home runs, two doubles, five RBIs and three runs scored. It was the first multi-homer game of his career, and his five RBIs also marked a career best.
• Cam Redding went 3-6 with a home run, three RBIs and three runs scored. He's homered in each of the first two games of the series.
• Cameron Swanger doubled twice, drove in two runs and scored twice.
