MATCH NOTES: Saint Louis
• Saint Louis opens the 2022 season at the Arkansas State Invitational in Jonesboro, Ark., with weekend matches against Little Rock, Arkansas State and Mississippi Valley State.
• Head Coach Kent Miller is in his 12th season at the helm of the Billikens. He's just one win shy of 300 in his 24-year career, including 163 victories at SLU.
• The Billikens return five starters from last year's squad that finished with an 18-12 record, including an 11-5 mark in Atlantic 10 Conference play, and the third seed in the A-10 Championship.
• Three A-10 All-Conference members return, including first-team honoree Jillian Mattingly. The St. Louis native broke SLU's single season record with a .389 hitting percentage last year. She ranked first in the league in hitting percentage, second in total blocks, fourth in service aces and fifth in blocks per set.
• Reigning A-10 Rookie of the Year and second-team All-Conference member Kate Aupperle returns for her sophomore campaign after posting the fourth most assists by a Billiken rookie in program history.
• Junior Delaney Rice earned All-Conference second-team plaudits after posting 2.97 kills per set in A-10 play and finishing the regular season with 12-plus kills in eight of the final nine contests. In total, she registered 13 double-digit kill matches on the season.
• Five newcomers join the Billikens, including Cincinnati transfer Dimitra Tziarli and freshmen Kayla Richardson, Irmak Gokcen, Addy Polk and Vivian Kieffer.
• Tziarli joins eight returning upperclassmen to an experienced Billiken roster. Margaret Mahlke and Lily Welti make up the SLU seniors, while juniors CeCe Fitz, Emily Henken, Abby Lynn, Rice, Carlie Rodgers and Mattingly make up the junior class.
• Aupperle and OH/RS Mak Hill return for their sophomore campaigns.
• The Billikens will host the A-10 Volleyball Championship for the first time since the 2016 season, welcoming the league's top six teams to Chaifetz Pavilion Nov. 18- 20. The winner will earn the conference's automatic bid to the 2022 NCAA Volleyball Championship.
