Alberto Suarez have been named to the 2022 Men's Hermann Trophy Watch List, as announced today by the United Soccer Coaches organization.
The Hermann Trophy, presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club, is the nation's highest individual honor recognizing the National Player of the Year in college soccer as determined by the voting of NCAA Division I coaches who are members of the United Soccer Coaches.
Fifteen men's players and 15 women's players become Hermann Trophy semifinalists on Nov. 30 after the completion of NCAA Division I All-America voting. On Dec. 7, the top three players from a final round of voting are 2022 Hermann Trophy Finalists. The 2022 winner is revealed on Jan. 6, 2023, at a ceremony at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in downtown St. Louis.
Klein was a first-team All-Region choice by the United Soccer Coaches and a first-team All-Conference honoree after leading the nation in 2021 with 15 assists. He also scored seven goals to finish with 29 points, which ranked 12th in the country. For his career, Klein has 22 goals and 22 assists for 66 total points. He has appeared in 68 games (63 starts) throughout his career thus far.
Suarez is in his first season with the Billikens after transferring from Central Arkansas. Last season, he claimed first-team All-Region honors from the United Soccer Coaches and was tabbed the ASUN Player of the Year and the league's Defensive Player of the Year. Suarez scored eight goals last year, bringing his career total to 20 strikes in 68 total appearances (60 starts).
