LOUISVILLE, Ky. – No. 10 Saint Louis fell 3-1 against Louisville Thursdsay in the season opener for both squads at Lynn Family Stadium in Louisville, Ky.

The Billikens (0-1) received an early goal by
Erich Legut, but the Cardinals (1-0) responded with three straight tallies to post the upset victory.

Moments after having a goal waived off for being offside, the Billikens got on the board for certain in the 17th minute on the first-career tally by Legut. Following a failed clearance by Louisville,
John Klein had a touch that was deflected away by the Louisville keeper. Legut pounced on the rebound and scored from 16 yards out to put SLU on top 1-0.

Louisville equalized in the 29th minute when Macoumba Ba scored off a crossing feed. Konstantinos Georgallides and Sander Roed earned assists on the play. The teams went into the locker room knotted at 1-1.

The Cardinals took the lead in the 66th minute of the second half when Damien Barker John slotted a ball to Aboubacar Camara, who put one past SLU keeper
Yuval Sade for the 2-1 advantage.

Louisville added to its lead with an insurance goal in the 75th minute. Bryce LeBel scored off a corner kick, with Nico Diaz and Bradley Sample assisting on the score.

Louisville had a 12-5 edge in shots and a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks. Sade made a pair of saves between the posts in his first collegiate start.
