MATCH ONE DETAILS
• Saint Louis defeated Little Rock in straight sets Friday morning in the Arkansas State Invitational in Jonesboro, Ark., and picked up a victory in its first match of the season.
• The win marked head coach Kent Miller's 300th in his 24-year career. He's in his 12th season with the Billikens, where he's tallied 164 victories.
• A late surge propelled the Billikens to a victory in set one. After trailing 22-20, SLU rattled off four points in a row before topping the Trojans 25-23.
• SLU fought off a Trojan comeback in the second set, winning the frame 25-23. The Billikens led 20-17 before a 5-0 Little Rock spurt put the Trojans up 22-20. SLU responded with five of the next six points and took the game, 25-23.
• The Billikens controlled set three from the start, winning the game 25-14 and the match 3-0. SLU combined for seven service aces in the frame, including three players picking up two aces each.
MATCH ONE NOTABLES
• Mak Hill registered a match-high 11 kills.
• Rookies Irmak Gokcen and Kayla Richardson combined for 13 kills, posting six and seven, respectively. Gokcen added a match-best five service aces, leading a SLU team that collected 12 total in the match.
• Dimitra Tziarli recorded a career-high five kills and hit for a .444 attack percentage. She added two service aces.
MATCH TWO DETAILS
• Arkansas State took a 2-1 lead in Friday night's match with Saint Louis, but the Billikens won sets four and five to end the day with their second victory.
• After falling behind 10-2 to start the first set, the Billikens fought back to take a 15-14 advantage in the frame. A back-and-forth game from there saw 11 tie scores and eight lead changes, but SLU came out on top, 28-26.
• The Red Wolves topped the Billikens 25-12 in the second set.
• Macey Putt and Bailey Helzer combined for 12 kills and led Arkansas State to a 25-20 win in set three.
• Following an 18-18 tie score in the fourth frame, SLU ended the set on a 7-3 run to knot the match at 2-2.
• SLU registered 11 total kills from five players en route to a 15-11 win in game five.
MATCH TWO NOTABLES
• Hill led the way for SLU with a career-best 14 kills on a career-high 46 attempts.
• Kate Aupperle and Abby Lynn tallied double-doubles. Aupperle collected 19 assists and 14 digs for her fourth career double-double, while Lynn recorded 21 assists and 13 digs for the 11th double-double of her career.
• Carlie Rodgers had 21 digs, along with five service aces and seven assists.
