GAME NOTES: Saint Louis | Rhode Island
Saint Louis (5-13, 1-2 A-10) takes on Atlantic 10 Conference co-leader Rhode Island (12-3, 3-0 A-10) Thursday, Jan. 12, in the first of two consecutive home games for the Billikens.

Tipoff at Chaifetz Arena is slated for 7 p.m. CT on ESPN+ with Colin Suhre on the call. KMOX (1120 AM, 98.7 FM) also will carry the game, with Tom Ackerman handling the play-by-play. The KMOX broadcast also is available on SLUBillikens.com.

The Billikens lead the series 12-6. The Rams have captured the last three meetings, including a 60-52 decision in Kingston, R.I., a year ago in a game that saw Brooke Flowers tally 16 points and 10 rebounds and Marisa Warren match her career high of six rebounds. SLU is 5-2 vs. Rhody in St. Louis.

Saint Louis will try to get back on track after falling at Saint Joseph's Jan. 7. Rhode Island, which was predicted to finish third in the A-10, already has defeated the top two teams in the league's preseason poll -- unanimous favorite Massachusetts on the road and No. 2 La Salle at home.

KEY STORYLINES
•Kyla McMakin is among the top 12 NCAA Division I active career leaders in free throw percentage (seventh, .862), scoring average (eighth, 18.2 ppg), points (11th, 1,952) and field goals made (12th, 707). McMakin ranks third in the A-10 this season with 17.8 points per game.

•In conference games only, guard Julia Martinez leads Saint Louis in total rebounding (11.0 rpg) and offensive rebounding (5.3 orpg). Martinez's all-games average of 7.5 boards leads SLU and ranks eighth in the Atlantic 10.
•Brooke Flowers leads all active NCAA Division I players with a school-record 333 blocked shots, 116 more than SLU's second-place total. Her league-leading 3.78 rejections per game have led the Bills to the top of the A-10 and 27th in the nation (4.8 bpg). Flowers also finds herself third among active career leaders in rebounds (school-record 1,062).
•Julia Martinez ranks 13th nationally with 3.17 steals per game. That leads the A-10 and has lifted the Billikens to the top of the league with 9.8 thefts per contest.
•Saint Louis has sizzled at the foul line recently, shooting 83.1 percent (64-of-77) over its last four games. The Bills are one of six A-10 teams among the nation's top 50 in free throw accuracy at 76.9 percent (fourth A-10, 34th nationally).
