VB Preview: Billikens Return Home to Host Fordham

ST. LOUIS -- The Saint Louis University Volleyball team (9-10, 2-5 A-10) will look to get back in the win column over the weekend when the Billikens host Fordham (12-5, 3-4 A-10) Friday and Saturday.

Parking Information
  • For the match on October 13, the Fred Weber Lot will be pass list only and the Olive Garage will cost $5.
  • For the match on October 14, the Fred Weber Lot will serve as a pass list lot but will also be sold for $10 while spaces remain.
First Serve
  • The Billikens dropped two hard-fought matches last weekend, falling to Duquesne in back-to-back five-set contests on the road.
  • SLU will host Fordham this weekend and look to get back in the win column by picking up the team's first home victory of the year. 
  • The Rams come to St. Louis with a record of 12-5 and are coming off a split series against VCU, Oct. 7-8.
  • SLU holds the advantage in the all-time series against Fordham, beating the Rams in 26 of their 28 meetings. The teams last met in Nov. 2022 which saw the Billikens sweep the series with 3-1 and 3-0 wins.
  • Trinity Luckett not only leads the Billikens at the net with 65 total blocks (10 solo), but the freshman  surpassed the 100-kill mark last weekend and has 102 on the year
  • Josie Newcom has become a force for the Billikens' offensive and defensive efforts in her first season at SLU. After reaching double-digit kills (11) against VCU on Sept. 23, the freshman recorded 11 and 14 kill outings against Duquesne last weekend. Along with her 80 kills on the year she has also tallied 38 digs with at least one in all but three matches. 

Scouting the Rams

  • The Rams come to St. Louis with a record of 12-5 and are coming off a split series against VCU, Oct. 7-8. 
  • SLU holds the advantage in the all-time series against Fordham, beating the Rams in 26 of their 28 meetings. The teams last met in Nov. 2022 which saw the Billikens sweep the series with 3-1 and 3-0 wins.
  • Fordham sits three spots ahead of the Billikens in fifth place in the A-10 with a conference mark of 3-4. The Rams have earned A-10 victories over Duquesne, Rhode Island and VCU.

Up Next

  • The Billikens' conference schedule will be played in a home-and-home format the A-10 adapted in 2022. The one exception is a home-and-away series with Loyola Chicago which began with a single contest at Chaifetz Pavilion on Oct. 3, and will conclude with a match in the Windy City on Oct. 24.
  • After hosting the Rams this weekend the Billikens hit the road for a three-match stretch at No. 18 Dayton and Loyola Chicago.
  • SLU will play the top-20 Flyers Oct. 20-21 before finishing the team's home-and-away series against Loyola on Oct. 24.
  • The Billikens weekend against the Flyers will kick off at 6 p.m. Friday before concluding at 1 p.m.
