Saint Louis field hockey is in action this weekend with a pair of matches in North Carolina. First, the Bills take on Davidson on Friday night at 6 p.m. (CT) in Atlantic 10 Conference play. Then on Sunday, SLU meets App State in a nonconference match at 10:30 a.m. (CT).
The Billikens (3-11, 1-5 A-10) have won two in a row, outscoring its opponents 9-1 during the streak. They are coming off a 5-1 home victory over Lock Haven in A-10 play. SLU's five goals against the Bald Eagles were the most it has ever scored in an A-10 match.
SLU has scored 25 goals this year and are on pace with finish with the most goals scored by a SLU team in quite some time. Josefina Perez leads the way for SLU with 14 points (5G, 4A). Demi Sahuleka (5G) and Brooke Mason (4G, 2A) follow with 10 points apiece. Kendyl Underwood has seen the majority of time in the cage and has made 60 saves with a 3.14 goals against average.
Davidson is 5-11 overall and 0-6 in league play. Sib Naaktgeboren paces the Wildcats with 15 points (6G, 3A) while Abby Pompeo has a team-leading seven goals. SLU defeated Davidson 1-0 in a home game last year.
App State brings a 12-4 record into its conference game against Ohio on Friday. The Mountaineers have won seven in a row, including an impressive shootout win at nationally ranked Louisville last weekend. App State defeated the Bills 2-0 last season.
