VB Preview: SLU Set for Home Series Against Rhode Island

ST LOUIS - The Saint Louis University Volleyball team (11-13, 4-8 A-10) will look to get back in the win column over the weekend when the Billikens host Rhode Island (4-20, 1-11 A-10) Saturday and Sunday.

  • For the match on October 29, the Fred Weber lot will not be available and the Olive Garage will cost $15.
Promotions
  • All attendees at Sunday's match will be provided with free tickets to the men's basketball exhibition game against Berea College. Tip is set for 3 p.m. and information about Chaifetz Arena's clear bag policy can be found here. 
First Serve
  • The Rams come to St. Louis with an overall  record of 4-20 and are coming off a 1-3 loss to Fordham Wednesday night.
  • Heading into its home weekend against Rhode Island, SLU sits tied for seventh place with George Washington with a 4-8 A-10 mark. 
  • SLU is second in the A-10 in total kills with 1,193  through its 24 matches. The Billikens compiled a match-high 67 in their win over Fordham on Oct. 13.
  • Early in the Billikens' Saturday match against Dayton last weekend, Carlie Rodgers became Saint Louis University's career digs leader by surpassing Whitney Behrens' mark of 1,685. Rodgers leads the A-10 in the category with 451 heading into this weekend.
  • Trinity Luckett not only leads the Billikens at the net with 78 total blocks (13 solo), but the freshman has an offensive prowess as well and surpassed the 100-kill mark at Duquense and has 114 on the year which ranks fifth on the team.
  • Delaney Rice is second in the A-10 in kills through 25 matches (299) and ranks sixth in kills per set (3.05). Emily Henken ranks one spot behind her in kills per set with 3.01.
Top Notch Service
  • SLU's 171 team service aces rank fifth in the NCAA and second in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
  • SLU's 1.74 service aces per set currently rank fifth in the A-10 and h in the NCAA.
  • Carlie Rodgers' 42 services aces rank 13th in the nation and lead the A-10 through the Billikens' 24 matches.
  • Emily Henken is another force for the Billikens at the service line and ranks fifth in the conference in aces per set (.43), a number good for 81st in the NCAA.

Following the Billikens' home weekend series against Rhode Island, they will travel to Davidson Nov. 3-4 to take on the Wildcats.
