SETTING THE SCENE

  • Saint Louis takes on old Missouri Valley Conference rival Wichita State on Sunday night in the third-place game of the Myrtle Beach Invitational. Tip-off from the HTC Center in Conway, S.C., is set for 7 p.m. (CT).
  • Sunday's game will air live on ESPN2, with Rich Hollenberg and Daymeon Fishback on the call.
  • KMOX 1120 AM again serves as the Home for Billiken Basketball on the radio. Billiken Hall of Famers and longtime SLU men's basketball radio partners Bob Ramsey and Earl Austin Jr. will the call the action for all SLU games, both at home and on the road.
ABOUT THE BILLIKENS
  • Saint Louis is playing in the third-place game of the Myrtle Beach Invitational. The Billikens topped Wyoming to open the tournament, but fell to Vermont in the semifinals.
  • Sincere Parker registered a career-high 22 points and a team-best eight rebounds against Wyoming before leaving the game with a right foot injury. The Billikens' leading scorer (17.3 ppg) is out indefinitely.
  • Gibson Jimerson poured in a team-high 18 points against Vermont thanks in part to three 3-pointers. He has moved up to 15th on SLU's all-time scoring list (1,366 points).
  • The Billikens are hitting 47.4 percent of its shots from beyond the arc to lead all teams at the Myrtle Beach Invitational. For the season, SLU is shooting at a 42.9 percent clip from 3-point distance, 14th in the NCAA.
  • Tim Dalger (13.5 ppg) and Terrence Hargrove Jr. (12.0 ppg) are averaging double figures during the Myrtle Beach Invitational.
  • Freshman Cian Medley has provided valuable minutes off the bench (7.0 ppg and five steals). Michael Meadows Jr. has dished out eight assists to just one turnover in the two games in the MBI.
  • There will be a notable height difference in the teams on Sunday. According to KenPom, Wichita State's average height is 30th in the NCAA. Meanwhile, SLU ranks 323rd out of 362 NCAA teams.
ABOUT THE SHOCKERS
  • The Wichita State University Shockers are 4-1 on the season. The Shockers opened the Myrtle Beach Invitational by defeating Coastal Carolina 86-77. Wichita State dropped an 83-66 decision to Liberty in the semifinals Friday night.
  • Xavier Bell leads the Shockers with 17.0 ppg. He has scored in double digits in both of WSU's games of the Myrtle Beach Invitational. The 6-foot-2 guard has also led the team in rebounding in Myrtle Beach (8.0 rpg).
  • Colby Rogers (15.8 ppg) and Kenny Pohto (10.6 ppg) also scored in double figures for Wichita State.
  • Paul Mills is in his first season coaching Wichita State. He was hired March 22, 2023, after a successful six-year career at Oral Roberts. He guided ORU to the Sweet 16 as a No. 15 seed in the 2021 NCAA Tournament.
  • Last season, Wichita State went 17-15 and 9-9 in American Athletic Conference play.
SERIES HISTORY
  • This is the 65th meeting all-time between the Billikens and Shockers, as the teams played regularly as members of the Missouri Valley Conference from 1945 to 1974.
  • SLU leads the series 41-23, but Wichita State has defeated SLU five games in a row, including a sweep of a four-game series from 2013-16.
WHAT'S NEXT?
  • The Billikens play their next two games at Chaifetz Arena – Saturday, Nov. 25, against Dartmouth at 7 p.m. and Tuesday, Nov. 28, versus Utah State at 7 p.m. Both games will will be televised by Bally Sports Midwest.
