WBB Preview: SLU Set for Chaminade in Laie, Hawai'i Saturday

LAIE, Hawai'i – Saint Louis University will play against Chaminade University Saturday as its first of three games in Laie, Hawai'i. The matchup will take place at 2 p.m. local time (6 p.m. CT). 
 
Key Storylines
  • The Billikens will play Chaminade Saturday before taking on Wake Forest and BYU as part of the North Shore Showcase. 
  • SLU is 2-1 on the season with wins over Missouri and Missouri State. 
  • Both the team's wins this season were in come-from-behind fashion, as SLU outscored both the Tigers and Lady Bears in the fourth quarter by 15 and 17 points, respectively.  
Last Time Out
  • The Billikens defeated the Missouri State 79-67 on Wednesday night for their second-straight in-state victory.
  • For the second time in its opening games, SLU used a fourth-quarter comback to defeat the Lady Bears, outscoring them 33-16 in the final 10-minute period. 
  • The Billikens held the 41-40 advantage in boards in the win, with Marcavia Shavers recording a team-high 10. 
  • The Billikens once again sealed the game from the free-throw line making 18 from the charity stripe in the final 3:20 of action.
  • Peyton Kennedy led all scorers with 24 points and a career-high five steals while Julia Martinez (21 points, 6 assists) and Kyla McMakin (11) also scored in double-digits. 
Scouting the Silverswords
  • The Silverswords play in the Pacific West in NCAA Division II. 
  • Chaminade is 2-0 this season with commanding 10+ point wins over Evergreen State and Multnomah. 
  • The Silverswords are coached by Michael Edwards who is in his second season with the program. 
  • Saturday's game is only the third time in program history that Chaminade women's basketball has faced off against a Division I opponent.
