Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Billikens Top Dartmouth, 66-65

ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis survived a late rally by Dartmouth and defeated the Big Green 66-65 on Saturday night in nonconference men's basketball action at Chaifetz Arena.

Saint Louis snapped a two-game skid and improved to 5-2 with the victory. Dartmouth fell to 1-3.

Gibson Jimerson finished with a season-high 23 points thanks in part to 10-of-11 shooting from the stripe. Five of Jimerson's six field goals came in the second half.

Terrence Hargrove Jr. scored 17 points and pulled down six rebounds. Michael Meadows Jr. scored 12 points, all in the first half. Tim Dalger was effective, scoring nine points and posting a team-high eight rebounds.

It was the Billikens' 200th victory at Chaifetz Arena.

Dartmouth was led by St. Louisan Brandon Mitchell-Day, who posted his first-career double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. He also had three assists, two steals and two blocked shots. Dusan Neskovic had a game-high 24 points for the Big Green.

Saint Louis led by 11 at halftime, but Dartmouth opened the second half on an 8-0 run, a sign of things to come later.

Dartmouth gained a 47-46 lead with 14:26 to go, but SLU quickly answered with a 7-0 run. SLU didn't lose the lead again, but it came down to the very end.

The Bills stretched their lead to eight at 57-49 with 7:52 left in the game but were never able to push it any further as Dartmouth hung around. It was a one-possession game with less than three minutes left before Hargrove scored a driving layup to put SLU up by five. That would be the Billikens' last bucket of the contest, however, as they came up empty in its last three possessions.

Jackson Munro scored two baskets in the final 90 seconds to set up a chance for Dartmouth to win. With the shot clock turned off, Munro had an attempt in the paint that was off the mark as he was closely guarded by Jimerson. Dartmouth got the offensive rebound and Dusan Neskovic had an open look for three, but he missed. The Big Green had yet another attempt at the game-winner, but Munro's tip-in was off the mark. Larry Hughes II corralled the rebound and was fouled to seal the one-point win for SLU.

Saint Louis is back in action on Tuesday night when it hosts Utah State (5-1) at Chaifetz Arena. Game time is 7 p.m. on Bally Sports Midwest Extra.
