Amber Hildebrandt Joins Billikens’ Volleyball Staff

ST. LOUIS — Saint Louis head volleyball coach Andrea Beaty has announced the addition of Amber Hildebrandt as assistant coach.

Hildebrandt joins the Billikens with 11 combined years of playing and coaching experience at the NCAA Division I level.

"From the moment I connected with Amber, I knew she was going to be a great addition to our staff," Beaty said. "She has left a lasting impression on all the programs she has been a part of, and I am grateful that we will experience that impact. Amber is great at cultivating and maintaining relationships, and her persistence and ability to relate to our student-athletes makes her an elite recruiter. She also has extensive experience in training and formulating defensive systems, which we are excited to incorporate in our program. Amber is going to do great things for our program and our community. We are very lucky to have her."

"There was an immediate connection when talking with Andrea," Hildebrandt said. "Her passion, positivity and enthusiasm for the future of SLU Volleyball is incredibly captivating. After visiting campus and speaking with Chris May and Dr. Janet Oberle, it is clear that this administration cares deeply about the development of student-athletes, and the future of the program is bright with their support. I am honored to be a part of this new chapter and looking forward to helping Andrea bring her vision to life."

Hildebrandt comes to SLU after serving as associate head coach and recruiting coordinator at Oakland during the 2021 fall season, then being tagged interim head coach in January 2022.

Hildebrandt coached at Appalachian State for three seasons over two stints (2015-16, 2019-21) while also spending two years as an assistant at Xavier (2016-17). She helped lead Appalachian State to two straight Sun Belt Tournament appearances. The Mountaineers totaled seven Sun Belt first-team All-Conference honorees, including five first-team members during her tenure.

In her first stint at Appalachian State in 2015, Hildebrandt helped the Mountaineers post a 22-8 overall record with a 13-3 mark in conference action. The team matched a program record with 16 consecutive wins during the season. Hildebrandt also coached four student-athletes to AVCA Southeast All-Region honors.

Hildebrandt served as an assistant at Xavier for two seasons beginning in 2016. The Musketeers combined for 33 victories, including 20 in her first year with the program. Xavier posted a 13-5 mark in the Big East in 2016 and advanced to the conference tournament title match.

In her two years at Xavier, Hildebrandt coached two Big East first-team All-Conference selections, two AVCA All-Region honorees and one AVCA honorable mention All-American.

Hildebrandt was a volunteer assistant coach at Oakland in 2014 when the Golden Grizzlies posted a 22-10 overall record. She helped guide OU to Horizon League regular-season and tournament titles, which resulted in the program's first-ever bid to the NCAA Tournament.

The 2013 Oakland alum was a part of the winningest senior class in program history with 68 total victories. As an outside hitter, Hildebrandt saw action in 87 matches and more than 200 sets in her collegiate career. She also excelled in the classroom with Academic All-Summit League honors in 2010 and 2011.

The Lake Zurich, Ill., native earned a bachelor's degree in social work from Oakland in 2013.
