ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis dropped a 2-0 decision to Eastern Illinois on Wednesday in midweek nonconference baseball action at the Billiken Sports Center.

SLU fell to 12-6 with the loss. Eastern Illinois extended its winning streak to seven and moved to 12-4 overall with the win.

EIU held the Billikens to just two hits – singles from
Patrick Clohisy and
Cole Smith in the first and third innings, respectively. The Panthers retired 19 straight Billikens to close out the game.

Nick Laxner went seven innings and allowed just two hits and struck out five in picking up the victory. Ryan Ignoffo and Zane Robbins (save) pitched scoreless innings in relief.

Grant Fremion was tagged for the loss after 3.1 innings of work where he allowed just two hits on the one run. In all, the Billikens utilized seven pitchers on the day.
