THE BASICS
Saint Louis scored twice in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat George Washington 8-7 Saturday afternoon at the Billiken Sports Center, giving the Billikens a sweep of an Atlantic 10 Conference doubleheader.

SLU won the opener 11-3 in five innings.
Â
Jane Kaniecki led the Billikens' attack, going 5-for-9 with a home run and six RBI in the twinbill.
Â
The Billikens improved to 12-16 overall and 5-0 in the A-10 with their fifth and sixth consecutive victories.

GAME 1 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•George Washington struck first with two runs in the third inning.
•Saint Louis responded with six runs in its half of the third on three-run home runs by
Natalie Sullivan and Kaniecki. Sullivan's homer was her second of the year, while Kaniecki's was her first.
•GW scored once in the fourth.
•The Billikens tallied twice in the bottom of the fourth on an
Abby Mallo RBI single and Kaniecki's RBI groundout.
•SLU earned the run-rule victory in the fifth. Mallo produced another RBI single, and another run crossed on the play on an error. The winning run scored on a passed ball.

•Sullivan added a single.

Gabbie Kowalik had two hits including a double.

Chloe Rhine collected a double, while
Kelsey Etling,
Ashley Marietta,
Cami Newbanks and
Jocelyn Abbott had a single apiece.

Chloe Wendling notched the win in the circle, striking out five.

GAME 2 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•SLU posted two first-inning runs on a wild pitch and a passed ball.
•George Washington tied it in the second.
•The Bills regained the lead with a two-run third. Mallo hit her team-leading fifth home run of the season, a solo shot, and the second run scored on an error.
•The Colonials went back on top with a three-run fourth inning.
•The Billikens answered with two runs in their half of the fourth to lead 6-5. Mallo's RBI groundout and Kaniecki's RBI single accounted for the scoring.
•The top of the fifth saw GW score twice for a 7-6 advantage.
•Newbanks led off the seventh with her first homer of the season. Saint Louis loaded the bases on three 2-out walks, and Kaniecki drove in the winning run with an infield single.

•Rhine, Sullivan and Kowalik had a single apiece.
•Wendling picked up another win, allowing just one run in three innings of relief.
