THE BASICS
Saint Louis erupted for nine runs in the final two innings and defeated Eastern Illinois 10-2 in six innings Wednesday afternoon at the Billiken Sports Center.
 
The Billikens won for a seventh time in eight games and improved to 13-17 on the season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
•SLU grabbed a 1-0 lead in the third inning on Gabbie Kowalik's RBI double.
•Eastern Illinois went on top 2-1 with two runs in the fifth.
•The Billikens answered with a five-run bottom of the fifth to take a 6-2 lead. Abby Mallo's two-run double and Kelsey Etling's three-run home run, her second round-tripper of the season, were the big blows.
•Saint Louis clinched the win with four tallies in the sixth. Mallo collected two more RBI with a single, and a third run scored on an error on the play. Etling drove in the winning run with a single.
 
BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•Taylor Hochman went the distance in the circle and struck out five.
•Etling went 3-for-4.
•Kowalik added a single for a two-hit day.
•Jane Kaniecki collected two singles.
•Chloe Rhine and Natalie Sullivan had a single apiece.

The Billikens travel to Amherst, Mass., for a three-game Atlantic 10 Conference series vs. UMass April 1-2. Saturday's doubleheader and Sunday's single game begin at 11 a.m. Central.
