THE BASICS
Saint Louis extended its winning streak to five games and moved up a spot in the Atlantic 10 Conference standings with a 5-2, 8-2 doubleheader sweep of Loyola Chicago Wednesday afternoon at the Billiken Sports Center.

SLU improved to 20-22 overall and 12-4 in the A-10. Trailing Loyola Chicago by one-half game entering the twinbill, the Billikens jumped over the Ramblers into third place.

Dayton leads the league at 12-2. Saint Louis is just one-half game behind second-place George Mason (13-4).

GAME 1 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•Saint Louis took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning on two-out RBI singles by
Jocelyn Abbott and
Cami Newbanks (bunt).
•The Billikens made it 4-0 in the fifth on
Abby Mallo's two-out, two-run single.
•Loyola cut the margin in half by scoring twice in the sixth.
•SLU added an insurance run in the sixth on Abbott's sacrifice fly.
•The Ramblers had the tying run at the plate in the seventh, but Bills pitcher
Chloe Wendling shut the door.

GAME 1 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•Wendling, who took a no-hitter into the fifth, notched her league-leading 15th win to tie the career high she set last season. She surrendered just five hits, struck out four and walked three.
•
Kelsey Etling smashed her first career triple and also doubled.
•Mallo added a single for a two-hit game.
•
Natalie Sullivan had a single.

GAME 2 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•The Billikens plated three runs in the first on
Gabbie Kowalik's RBI triple and Mallo's league-leading 10th home run, a two-run blast.
•Loyola tallied two runs in the fourth.
•SLU stretched its lead to 6-2 with another three-run frame, this time in the fifth.
Chloe Rhine tripled in the first run, and two more runners crossed on a throwing error.
•The Bills tacked on two insurance markers in the sixth.
Ashley Marietta smacked an RBI triple, and
Kendall Johnson provided the final run with an RBI single.

GAME 2 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•
Kaili Hanner collected her third victory of the year in the circle. Hanner allowed no earned runs, fanned three and yielded eight hits and two walks.
•The Billikens set a school single-game record with three triples.
