BILLIKENS HEAD TO VCU FOR PIVOTAL A-10 SERIES
 
This weekend's series is big for both Saint Louis and VCU. Saint Louis enters the weekend tied for first in the Atlantic 10 Conference standings with Davidson with a 9-3 record. VCU (6-6) is in a three-way tie for seventh in the conference. The top seven teams in the league standings at the season's end qualify for the A-10 Baseball Championship. The regular-season champion gets the all-important first-round bye.
 
VCU leads the all-time series 13-6. The teams last met in 2021, with VCU winning all four games in a series at SLU in the COVID-impacted season of 2021. The Billikens haven't played VCU in Richmond since way back in 2016.
 
QUICK HITTERS         
 
The Billikens suffered their lone series loss last weekend when Dayton took two out of three in Ohio. SLU has A-10 sweeps against Saint Joseph's and UMass so far this season.
 
Saint Louis boasts one of the top offenses in the league. The Billikens score a league-high 8.1 runs per contest. They are second in the A-10 in stolen bases per game (1.53) and third in batting average (.289).
 
The Billikens' pitching staff is second in the A-10 in ERA (5.26). Defensively, SLU leads the league in double plays turned per game (0.82).

Second baseman Ethan Sitzman brings an 18-game hitting streak into the weekend. He leads the Billikens in batting average (.380) and OBP (.491).
 
Three-time A-10 Player of the Week, outfielder Patrick Clohisy, leads the Billikens in hits (59), triples (tied with two), home runs (tied with nine), RBIs (44) and stolen bases (18). He is hitting a team-best .462 in A-10 games only.
 
First baseman/DH Cam Redding has six homers in just 73 at-bats. He leads SLU with 21 RBIs in conference games only. Redding is fifth in school history with 147 RBIs.
 
Outfielder Cole Smith is hitting .333 with a team-leading 11 doubles. Outfielder Hayden Moore has a .302 batting average.
 
Tyler Fogarty is tied with Clohisy with a team-leading nine home runs. He is second on the team with 10 doubles.
 
The Billikens' starting rotation of Henry Litman, Jackson Holmes and Owen Chaffin has been effective as they combine for a 10-2 record. Litman leads the A-10 with a 2.82 ERA.
 
BILLIKENS IN THE A-10          
 
This is the 18th season of the Bills competing in the A-10. SLU was picked tied for third in this year's preseason poll.
 
Saint Louis owns four A-10 tournament titles since joining the league in 2006, the most of any other program during that span. The Bills have claimed at least a share of the A-10 regular season crown five times.
 
The top seven teams at the end of the regular season advance to the 2023 A-10 Baseball Championship, set for May 23-27 at The Diamond in Richmond, Virginia.
