Redding’s Career Day Caps Comeback Over Fordham

Saint Louis – The Billikens scored seven runs over the seventh and eighth innings and sent their 11 seniors out in style, defeating Fordham 8-6 in comeback fashion today at the Billiken Sports Center.
 
SLU (29-21, 14-9 A-10) trailed 4-1 after six innings but scored two in the seventh and five in the eighth to complete the comeback.
 
Cam Redding had a career day as he drove in five with a pair of home runs, a walk and two runs scored. Redding now has 161 career RBIs and is 10th in the SLU career hit list with 229. He also hit his 21st and 22nd career home runs.
 
Tyler Fogarty, Knox Preston and Austin Neuweg drove in a run each, while Ethan Sitzman and Cole Smith scored two each. Hayden Moore and Fogarty scored the other runs.
 
Colby Downard picked up the win in relief, going four innings and striking out three to move to 2-2 on the year. Ethan Bell threw a perfect ninth, striking out one to pick up his third save.
 
Fordham (19-35, 7-16 A-10) picked up three RBIs from Zach Selinger as Tommy McAndrews had a pair of hits.  
 
The Rams went up 3-0 after three innings before Neuweg singled home Smith to make it 3-1. Another run came in for the Rams in the sixth, before the Bills started to climb back.
 
Redding hit a two-run bomb to right to score Sitzman and get within a run, but the Rams answered back with two more in the top of the eighth to go up 6-3. But it was Redding to the rescue again as he tied the game at 6 with a three-run shot to score Sitzman and Moore. Fogarty singled home Smith with the go-ahead run and Preston singled Fogarty to complete the scoring.
 
The Billikens are two games up in fourth place in the A-10 standings and a win tomorrow will secure fourth in the final standings.  
 
The two teams will finish the series tomorrow with an 11 am first pitch.
