Four Billikens Capture All-Conference Honors

RICHMOND, Va. – Saint Louis had four student-athletes claim Atlantic 10 Conference Baseball All-Conference honors, the league announced Wednesday at the A-10 Baseball Championship in Richmond, Va.

Cam Redding was tabbed first-team All-Conference at first base and was voted to the All-Academic team. Patrick Clohisy (outfielder) and Cole Smith (designated hitter) landed on the second team. Relief pitcher Ben Cherico was named to the All-Rookie team.

The All-Conference honors are voted upon by the league's head coaches. The All-Academic team is comprised after a vote of the league's communication directors. The full list of All-Conference honorees can be found here.

Redding entered the A-10 Championship on a tear, having blasted a team-leading 13 home runs and driving in 48 runs. This comes after he missed the first 21 games of the season due to injury. When projecting his homers and RBIs over a 50-game schedule, he would lead the A-10 in both categories by a mile.

It is the second straight season that Redding earned first-team All-Conference honors. Last season, he earned first-team plaudits as a designated hitter. Redding graduated in May with an MBA after earning a B.S. in Entrepreneurship as an undergrad.

Clohisy leads the Billikens in hits (73), RBIs (55) and stolen bases (21). The sophomore transfer from Purdue is second in batting average (.344) and third in doubles (12) and home runs (10).

Smith entered the A-10 Championship on a nine-game hitting streak and a team-leading .355 batting average. He is the lone Billiken to start every game this season.

Cherico brings a 3-1 record to the A-10 Baseball Championship, with two of those wins coming in conference play. In six appearances during A-10 play, all out of the bullpen, he posted one save, a 2.45 ERA and struck out 10 batters.

Saint Louis is the No. 4 seed at the A-10 Baseball Championship, which takes place May 23-27 at The Diamond in Richmond, Va.
