THE BASICS
Saint Louis scored four runs in the first inning and held on for a 5-4 victory over Rhode Island in game two of an Atlantic 10 Conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon.
Â
The win, coupled with Loyola Chicago's doubleheader sweep of second-place Dayton, clinched the A-10 regular-season championship for the Billikens, the first conference title in program history.
Â
Rhode Island won the opener 1-0.
Â
In addition to securing the A-10 regular-season crown and the No. 1 seed for next week's A-10 Championship, the Billikens (28-23, 19-5 A-10) set a school record for conference wins with their victory in Saturday's nightcap.
Saint Louis has won 13 of its last 14 games.

GAME 1 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•

Â
GAME 2 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•Two walks and an error in the Saint Louis first inning loaded the bases for
Kelsey Etling, who smacked a three-run double. Etling advanced to third on a
Jane Kaniecki single and scored on Marietta's groundout.
•The Billikens made it 5-0 in the third. Singles by Etling and Kaniecki and a walk to Marietta loaded the bases for
Jocelyn Abbott, who delivered a sacrifice fly that scored pinch runner
Grace Kmak.
•Rhode Island got back in the game by plating three runs in the fourth.
•The Rams pushed across another tally in the sixth, but the potential tying run was cut down at home for the third out.
Â
GAME 2 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•Etling added a single to go 3-for-4.
•Abbott and

Kaili Hanner tossed the first four innings and was the winning pitcher. The victory was Hanner's fifth of the season, all coming in conference play.
