Billikens Add Four to Roster

ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis head field hockey coach Zoe Adkins has announced the addition of four student-athletes to the Billikens' roster. The incoming freshmen begin their four years of eligibility this fall.

The new players are forward/midfielder Ava Bleier (Rochester, N.Y.), forward Sierra Larson (North Vancouver, British Columbia), goalkeeper Kerri O'Donnell (Hillsborough, N.J.) and forward/midfielder Mary Vetter (St. Louis, Mo.).

Bleier scored a school-record 109 career goals for Pittsford Sutherland High School and was the leading goal and point scorer for the Knights for four years. She added 49 career assists during her stellar prep career and once scored 30 goals in a season, a school record. A four-time All-Monroe County selection, Bleier was All-State in 2021 and is a two-time All-Greater Rochester selection (2021 and 2022). As a team captain her senior year, she led the Knights to their first sectional title in 10 years. Bleier also played for the Rochester New York Field Hockey Club.

"Ava's explosiveness and vision with the ball makes her dominant as both a forward and midfielder," Adkins said. "One of her biggest strengths is her counter attack game – winning the ball, eliminating defenders at a fast pace and executing quick release shots in the circle."

Larson is the team captain of the Sea to Sky Field Hockey Club. She helped the squad to a second-place finish in the club championships. Larson was an honor roll student all four years at St. Thomas Aquinas Regional Secondary School.

"Sierra is a forward who is a natural leader with a ton of presence all over the field," Adkins said. "The combination of her power and the shooting skill-set she possesses has her putting the ball in the back of the goal often."

O'Donnell prepped at Hillsborough High School, where she was a four-year starter in goal for the Raiders. She registered 512 saves during her high school career, including 173 stops as a senior to go along with 10 shutouts. O'Donnell was tabbed first-team All-Conference as a senior and helped her team to a sectional championship as a senior for the first time since 1983. She also played club for Centercourt.

"Kerri is a commander in the defensive end," Adkins said. "Not only does she make good goalkeeping specific decisions, but she also leads her defensive unit to be composed under pressure. Kerri's technical skills allow her to make key saves for her team in big moments."

Vetter was a four-year varsity starter and team captain as a senior for Ladue Horton Watkins High School. She tallied 13 goals throughout her career and was a three-time All-Conference selection, including earning first-team plaudits her senior year. Vetter helped the Rams to an Elite 8 appearance in 2022. She played club in the St. Louis area for the Gateway Field Hockey Club.

"Mary is a versatile attacker and can make an impact in many positions as both a midfielder and forward," Adkins said. "She plays fast and smart allowing her to be very crafty with the ball and initiate some dangerous attacks for her team."
