ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis University volleyball will play its lone exhibition game over the weekend matching up with Southern Illinois on Saturday afternoon. 

The Billikens and Salukis will meet in Carbondale, Ill., at 1 p.m. to conclude the preseason period.  

SLU is under new leadership this year, after former Billiken and 2010 A-10 Rookie of the Year, Andrea Beaty, was announced as the program's new head coach on Jan. 20, 2023. Prior to being named the Billikens' head coach, Beaty had assistant coaching stints at UTEP, Syracuse and most recently Denver, which included interim head coach appointments during her time at Denver and Syracuse. Beaty also served for four years as head coach at St. Francis Borgia Regional High School in Washington, Mo. 

Along with Beaty, assistant coaches Amber Hildebrandt, Steven Zarzycki and Avery Clark will begin their first seasons with the Billikens.  

Saint Louis returns 12 players from the 2022 squad while adding two freshmen and a transfer from Missouri.  

Following their matchup with SIU, the Billikens open regular season play next week at the Crimson Tide Invitational against Mississippi Valley, Alabama and Mercer Aug. 25-26.
