Softball Team, 13 Individuals Earn NFCA Academic Recognition

ST. LOUIS – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association recently announced that the Saint Louis University softball team's 3.672 grade point average for the 2022-23 academic year ranked 15th among NCAA Division I programs.

The top-20 ranking is Saint Louis' sixth in the last seven years the GPA list has been announced (no NFCA awards were issued for the 2019-20 academic year due to COVID-19).

In addition, 13 Billiken softball student-athletes earned NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete accolades. Recognition is given to individuals who achieve at least a 3.5 GPA (4.0 scale) for the entire academic year.

SLU's Scholar-Athlete honorees are Jocelyn Abbott, Kaili Hanner, Taylor Hochman, Kendall Johnson, Jane Kaniecki, Grace Kmak, Gabbie Kowalik, Allie Marietta, Ashley Marietta, Chloe Rhine, Sydney Ross, Natalie Sullivan and Chloe Wendling.

"I am extremely proud of the work ethic and dedication our student-athletes have towards their academic endeavors," head coach Christy Connoyer said. "They are champions on the field and in the classroom. Succeeding in both arenas is no small feat, and day in and day out, these young women have committed to doing it right."
