NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Saint Louis sophomore
Shaya Dry picked up Atlantic 10 Conference Field Hockey co-Player of the Week honors for the period of Sept. 4-10, the league announced.
Dry scored twice last week. On Monday, she scored the game-winning goal against Lindenwood off a penalty corner less than a minute into overtime, propelling the Bills to their first win of the season. Against Colgate on Sunday, Dry scored the equalizer in the fourth quarter to send the game into overtime.
Dry, who has scored in three straight games, leads SLU with three goals for the season. Last season, she was second on the team in goals (four) and was named to the league's All-Rookie team.
It is Dry's second A-10 weekly honor of her career after being tabbed A-10 Rookie of the Week on Oct. 31, 2022. SLU has an A-10 Player of the Week honoree for the first time since Dry's teammate, Demi Sahuleka, earned the honors on March 2, 2021.
The Billikens (1-4) conclude a five-match homestand on Friday at 1 p.m. at SportPort International in Maryland Heights when they host UMass to begin A-10 play. The Minutewomen are 4-2 on the year.
