VB Preview: SLU Continues Conference Slate at George Mason

ST. LOUIS -- The Saint Louis University Volleyball team continues its Atlantic 10 Conference slate this weekend when the Billikens travel to Fairfax, Va., to take on George Mason.

First Serve
  • SLU (7-7) will continue Atlantic 10 conference play this weekend at George Mason (6-8). The weekend's first match will be played at 5 p.m. (CT) Friday even while the series finale will kick off at 1 p.m. (CT) Saturday.
  • Both programs are under new leadership with Andrea Beaty in her first season as SLU's head coach and Megan Shifflett Bachmann in her second season at the helm of the Patriots.
  • Delaney Rice leads the Billikens in kills this season with 166 total, averaging 2.91 per set which ranks 10th in the A-10 while Emily Henken's 3.33 per set (150 total) ranks sixth in the A-10.
  • Heading into their second weekend of conference play, the Billikens sit seventh in the A-10 ahead of George Washington, Rhode Island and Loyola Chicago. Dayton sits atop the conference standings with a 13-2 overall record.
  • SLU is 15-1 all-time against George Mason. The Billikens and Rams last met on Oct. 1, 2022. Entering the matchup, the Rams are third in the A-10 while the Billikens sit in seventh place.
  • SLU has been active on the attack, ranking second in the A-10  in total team attacks (1,914)
  • SLU is coming off its opening home weekend hosting VCU. The Rams, who were picked just ahead of the Billikens in fifth place in the A-10 preseason poll, defeated SLU in five sets on Friday night and four sets Saturday afternoon.
Giving an Assist
  • The Billikens rank 37th in the NCAA in team assists after hosting VCU over the weekend. The team's 660 assists are good for third in the A-10.
  • Kate Aupperle's 391 assists lead the Billikens and rank fourth in the A-10. 
  • Aupperle joined the 500 club Saturday and now has 508 total assists in her career.
Can You Dig It?
  • Carlie Rodgers leads the Billikens in digs so far this season with 246.
  • Rodgers is averaging 4.32 digs per set which ranks fourth in the conference and 78th in the NCAA.
  • Rodgers has compiled 1,509 career digs which ranks 57th for active NCAA players.
  • Friday night against VCU Rodgers moved to second on SLU's career digs list.

  • After traveling to George Mason this weekend, the Billikens will return home for a midweek match against Loyola on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
  • After their first midweek matchup with the Ramblers, the Billikens will continue their road slate at Duquesne Oct. 6-7.
  • SLU's first match at Duquesne will be played on Friday, Oct. 6 at 5 p.m. (CT). while Saturday's first serve will take place at 1 p.m. (CT).
