FAIRFAX, Va. – Behind a team effort that saw six Billikens in the kills column, SLU earned its second conference win here Saturday afternoon, with a 3-0 sweep of George Mason.

The win moves the Billikens to 9-7 on the season and 2-2 conference play.

Riding its momentum from their five-set victory Friday night, the Billikens picked up where they left off in their second match of the weekend against the Patriots and jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the first set. Hitting .290 in the opening set, the Billikens coasted to a 25-18 victory to take the early lead.

Set two was a back-and-forth affair, but the Billikens ultimately got the edge on .300 hitting with four service aces and 12 kills leading the way to a 25-22 win.

George Mason showed fight in the third, taking a 10-5 lead early in the set. But the Billikens fought their way back, going on a 7-0 run to take the 12-10 advantage. From there, SLU did not trail, finishing off their sweep of the Patriots with a third set, 25-21, victory.

Jillian Mattingly led the Billikens with 10 kills while
Delaney Rice and
Josie Newcom added eight, apiece, and
Kate Aupperle tallied 30 assists.

SLU will be back in action for a rare midweek matchup, hosting Loyola Chicago Tuesday night at 6 p.m.
