ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis and No. 9 Charlotte battled to a 0-0 draw Tuesday night in non-conference men's soccer action at Robert R. Hermann Stadium.
The Billikens, who are unbeaten in their last five, move to 3-2-4 overall. The 49ers' record now stands at 6-0-3.
The Billikens threatened early and nearly went ahead 1-0 in the seventh minute when Gershon Henry and Matthew Wrobel connected for a would-be goal, but Wrobel was whistled for a foul and the goal was waived off.
SLU had another chance in the 77th minute when the Charlotte keeper was out of position. Wrobel fired but it was headed off the line by a Charlotte defender to keep the game scoreless.
Moments later, Seth Anderson had a chance on the right side. He fired to the far post, forcing Charlotte keeper Leo Stritter to dive to his right to make the nice save.
In all, the Billikens had a 9-2 advantage in shots and out-cornered the 49ers 7-3.
The Billikens resume Atlantic 10 Conference play on Saturday night when first-place Duquesne comes to town. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
