Billikens Top Maryville, 106-65

ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis concluded its exhibition season with a 106-65 victory over Maryville Friday night at Chaifetz Arena.

The Billikens now set their sights on the season opener on Monday, Nov. 4. SLU heads to Sioux Falls, S.D., to take on Santa Clara in the Field of 68 Opening Day Showcase at the Sanford Pentagon.

On Friday, Kellen Thames led the way with 17 points and added three rebounds, four steals and three assists.

Kobe Johnson scored 16 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field and 3-of-4 from 3-point range.

It was the Billiken debut of Robbie Avila, who missed the Bills' previous exhibition game with an injury. He scored 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds.

Isaiah Swope and Larry Hughes II scored 11 points apiece. Max Pikaar was the sixth Billiken in double-figures with 10 points.

Kalu Anya finished with seven points, a team-high eight rebounds and three assists.

Saint Louis took control with a 15-0 run in the first half as the Billikens quickly got into their offense. It featured a pair of dunks by Thames and several Billiken 3-pointers.

The Bills led 48-23 at intermission. 

All available scholarship players saw significant minutes and they all scored in the game.
