SETTING THE SCENE

  • Saint Louis heads to Kansas City to take on Wichita State Friday in the NABC Hall of Fame Classic at the T-Mobile Center.  The game is scheduled for a 9:30 p.m. tip as it is the second game of a doubleheader. Iowa and Utah State get things started at 7 p.m. 
  • Friday's game will be streamed live on Peacock and the NBC Sports FAST Channel. Jake Eisenberg and Jess Settles will call the action. The game is available via the Peacock app for all Peacock subscribers. Additionally, the NBC Sports FAST Channel is available for free on all major FAST channel distributors, including the following devices and smart TV platforms: Roku Channel, PlutoTV, Samsung TV, Amazon Fire, Fubo, Xumo, Sling Freestream, and Freeve.
  • KMOX 1120 AM is the home for Billiken Basketball on the radio. Billiken Hall of Famers and longtime SLU men's basketball radio partners Bob Ramsey and Earl Austin Jr. will the call the action for all SLU games, both at home and on the road. Ramsey is in his 39th season calling SLU games, while Austin is in year No. 34. 

BILLIKEN NOTABLES

  • Saint Louis (2-1) is coming off a 77-71 victory over Loyola Marymount Saturday night at Chaifetz Arena. Gibson Jimerson and Isaiah Swope scored 23 points apiece to lead the way for SLU.
  • Gibson Jimerson leads the Billikens with 22.3 ppg. He is first in the NCAA in 3-pointers made per game (5.0), through games of Nov. 19. Jimerson also continues to climb SLU's all-time scoring list. He needs 19 points to surpass Erwin Claggett for second, and 81 points to break Anthony Bonner's school record of 1,972 career points.
  • Isaiah Swope will be appearing in his 100th career game Friday. He averages 18.3 ppg and led the team in scoring with 24 points against Santa Clara. He has dished out a team-best 13 assists.
  • Kellen Thames recorded a career-high 16 points in each of the first two games. He is shooting 72 percent (18-25) from the field to lead the team.
  • Kalu Anya leads the Billikens in rebounding with 10.7 per game. He dished out a career-high five assists against LMU.
  • Head coach Josh Schertz is in his first season at SLU. His .786 winning percentage ranks No. 7 among active coaches across all three NCAA divisions.

ABOUT THE SHOCKERS

  • Wichita State University (Wichita, Kansas) enters Friday's game with a 4-0 record. The Shockers began the season with an impressive road win at Western Kentucky. They are coming off home wins against Montana State, UNI and Monmouth.
  • Justin Hill leads four players who average double digits in scoring. He scores 17.5 points and averages 5.0 assists to just 1.0 turnover per game.
  • Corey Washington scores 14.8 ppg, while Xavier Bell chips in 11.3 ppg off the bench.
  • Harlond Beverly averaged 10.8 ppg and leads the team with 11 steals. Quincy Ballard, who missed the Shockers' last game with an injury, scores 9.7 ppg while shooting 80 percent from the field. He also leads the team with 2.0 blocks per game. 
  • Last season, the Shockers went 15-19 overall and 5-13 in the American.
  • Head coach Paul Mills is in his second season at Wichita State. He was hired after six seasons at Oral Roberts, where he guided ORU to the Sweet 16 as a No. 15 seed in the 2021 NCAA Tournament.

UP NEXT

  • Following the Wichita State game, SLU is at home for three straight. The Billikens host a multi-team event (MTE), dubbed the 314 Classic, against Quinnipiac (Monday, Nov. 25) and UMass Lowell (Wednesday, Nov. 27). Both of those games tip at 7 p.m. at Chaifetz Arena. Quinnipiac and UMass Lowell play Saturday in Massachusetts.
  • SLU then plays host to Jackson State on Monday, Dec. 2, at Chaifetz Arena before traveling to San Francisco to face the Dons on Thursday, Dec. 5.
