WSOC PREVIEW: A-10 Championship Title on the Line Sunday as Billikens Host UMass

•The A-10 Championship crown and an automatic NCAA Tournament bid are on the line Sunday, Nov. 10, as top-seeded Saint Louis and third-seeded Massachusetts square off at Hermann Stadium. Kickoff is slated for noon.

•A pair of 2-0 wins (Davidson, Saint Joseph's), stretching its unbeaten streak to 15 games (11-0-4), sent SLU into Sunday's final. Saint Louis, which is seeking a seventh straight A-10 Championship title, hasn't lost since falling 2-1 to Penn State Sept. 1.
•UMass arrived by defeating Loyola Chicago 1-0 and Dayton 2-1. The Minutewomen haven't lost since Oct. 13 and are 4-0-1 in their last five outings.
•A seven-game series winning streak has given the Billikens a 12-1-3 series lead, including 6-0-2 in St. Louis. UMass' only victory was a 1-0 decision in 2010.
•The teams met in the A-10 opener Sept. 19 in Amherst, Mass. SLU emerged with a 1-0 win as Hope Kim, assisted by Ashley Miller, scored her first collegiate goal in the 63rd minute. Saint Louis out-shot UMass 18-5 overall and 7-4 in shots on goal.
•Saint Louis owns a 25-5-1 record in A-10 Championship play, including 19-0 since 2018. The Billikens have blanked all eight of their opponents (23-0 aggregate score) since 2022.
•The Billikens and Minutewomen have met twice before in the A-10 Championship. They tied 0-0 (UMass advanced on PKs) in the 2013 first round – Katie Shields' first tournament game as head coach – and the Billikens posted a 4-1 win in the 2021 final.
•Through games of Nov. 8, Saint Louis is 26th in the NCAA Division I Ratings Percentage Index. Massachusetts (38) also is in the top 50. Among SLU's non-conference opponents, Penn State is No. 8, BYU is No. 25 and Xavier is tied for No. 28.
•Emily Gaebe leads Saint Louis with 13 goals and 30 points. Lyndsey Heckel is second with five goals, while Hannah Sawyer, Hope Kim, Audrey Smith and Julia Simon have four goals each. Gaebe, Katie Houck and Hannah Larson lead with four assists apiece.
•Emily Puricelli has a 0.49 goals against average, an .871 save percentage and 10 shutouts. Puricelli has allowed just three goals in 12 games vs. A-10 opponents.
•Including conference tournament games, SLU has a 41-game unbeaten streak vs. A-10 opponents.
•Saint Louis is 77-9-11 (.851) in its last 97 games at Hermann Stadium. In those 97 games, SLU outscored opponents 225-38, posted 62 shutouts, and allowed more than one goal just three times. Against A-10 opponents during the 97-game stretch, the Billikens are 54-1-4 (40-0-4 regular season, 14-1-0 A-10 tournament) at Hermann Stadium.
•Massachusetts is appearing in the A-10 Championship final for a second time in four seasons.
•The Minutewomen are led by senior Bella Recinos, who earlier this week was named A-10 Midfielder of the Year for a second consecutive season. Recinos has team highs of nine goals and 21 points.
•Senior forward Ashley Lamond has five goals, while graduate midfielder Ella Curry, senior forward Chandler Pedolzky and senior midfielder Emma Pedolzky have four goals apiece.
•Redshirt-senior goalkeeper Bella Mendoza has played every minute between the posts this season. Mendoza owns a 1.00 GAA, a .750 save percentage and nine shutouts.
