SETTING THE SCENE

  • Saint Louis is back at Chaifetz Arena on Wednesday night to host the Wofford Terriers. Game time is 7 p.m.
  • The game is part of a doubleheader with the women's team. The Billikens take on the Valparaiso Beacons beginning at 4 p.m. at Chaifetz Arena. Men's basketball ticket holders can show their ticket for the women's game and may sit in GA seating.
  • The Billikens are in a stretch where they are alternating home and road games for the rest of December. Yet to come to Chaifetz Arena this month is William Woods on Dec. 28. SLU has another road coming up at Grand Canyon on Dec. 22 in Phoenix.

FOLLOWING THE ACTION

  • Wednesday's game will be televised on FanDuel Sports Network and will also stream live on ESPN+. Tom Ackerman (play-by-play), Troy Robertson (analyst) and Tamar Sher (reporter) will call the action.
  • KMOX 1120 AM is the home for Billiken Basketball on the radio. Billiken Hall of Famers and longtime SLU men's basketball radio partners Bob Ramsey and Earl Austin Jr. will the call the action for all SLU games, both at home and on the road. Ramsey is in his 39th season calling SLU games, while Austin is in year No. 34. 

BILLIKEN NOTABLES

  • Saint Louis returns to Chaifetz Arena where they are undefeated this season at 6-0.
  • The Billikens are coming off an 81-77 loss at Illinois State on Sunday. SLU fell behind by 22 at one point in the first half and stormed all the way back and were within a possession of the lead late in the game. Robbie Avila led the Bills with 28 points, including 21 in the second half.
  • Gibson Jimerson became SLU's program leader in career points in the San Francisco game, eclipsing Anthony Bonner's previous school record of 1,972 points. Jimerson is one of nine active NCAA Division I players with 2K+ career points. His 345 career 3s is a school record and leads all active Division I players.
  • Jimerson is third in the A-10 in scoring (18.5 ppg), first in 3s made per game (3.3) and first in FT% (.923). He is also first in the A-10 and fifth nationally in minutes played per game (36.4).
  • Robbie Avila is second on the Bills in scoring with 18.3 ppg. He has scored in double figures in all seven of his appearances. Avila also averages 4.0 assists per contest.
  • Isaiah Swope is third on the team with 17.9 ppg. His 2.71 career 3s made per game ranks ninth among all active NCAA Division I players.
  • Kalu Anya ranks ninth in the NCAA in rebounds per game (10.5). He has led the Billikens in rebounding in every game this season.
  • Saint Louis leads A-10 in 3s made per game (10.2).
  • Head coach Josh Schertz is in his first season at SLU. His .784 winning percentage ranks No. 8 among active coaches across all three NCAA divisions.

ABOUT THE TERRIERS

  • Wofford College (Spartanburg, S.C.) enters Wednesday's game with a 4-7 overall record.
  • The Terriers are on a quick turnaround, having just played on Monday night against the College of Charleston (L, 67-77) in Charleston, S.C.
  • Wofford is one of the more veteran-led teams in the SoCon, as they return four starters from a season ago as well as eight total letterwinners. The Terriers are one of just three teams in the nation returning more than 70 percent of production in the five major statistical categories.
  • The Terriers shoot a lot of 3s, as they rank 12th in NCAA Division I  with 30.7 attempts per game.
  • Three players score in double figures for Wofford, led by Corey Tripp's 12.5 ppg. Dillon Bailey (10.2 ppg) is the team's top 3-point shooter with 24 makes.
  • Kyler Filewich is Wofford's top rebounder at 9.3 rpg to go along with his 10.5 ppg. Filewich has posted a SoCon-leading four double-doubles this season. His 3.91 offensive rebounds per game rank seventh in NCAA Division I.
  • Dwight Perry is in his third season as head coach at Wofford. He previously served as an assistant coach at Furman. Perry is a 2010 graduate of the University of Kentucky and spent time on Shaka Smart's staff as a GA at VCU.

SERIES HISTORY

  • The Billikens and Terriers are meeting for a second time.
  • The previous meeting was a 66-52 Billiken win on Dec. 14, 2013, at Chaifetz Arena.
  • That victory was the third of a school-record 19-game winning streak for the Billikens that year.

TEDDY BEAR TOSS

  • The annual Teddy Bear Toss will take place at the Billikens' women's and men's basketball games on Wednesday, December 18. SLU women's basketball hosts Valparaiso at 4 p.m., and SLU men's basketball hosts Wofford at 7 p.m.
  • All fans are encouraged to bring a new stuffed animal to Chaifetz Arena. At halftime of each game, fans will be prompted to throw their stuffed animals onto the court. All items collected will be donated to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis - Herbert Hoover Club.
  • Fans who bring a stuffed animal to the game can purchase buy-one, get-one-free tickets at the Billiken ticket office.
