BRONX, N.Y. – Saint Louis University suffered a setback on the road here, Wednesday night, as the Billikens fell 79-64 to Fordham.

The loss drops SLU to 11-17 on the season and 6-9 in Atlantic 10 Conference play with three regular-season games remaining.

SLU's first half was plagued by inconsistency on the offensive front, shooting 37 percent from the floor. On the other side of the court, the Rams drained seven made three pointers in the opening 20 minutes in Rose Hill Gym, shooting 57 percent from the field. Despite scoring the final five points of the second quarter, the Billikens trailed 46-34 heading into the break.

The contest picked up where it left off at the beginning of the second half, as the home team put together a 5-0 run to help take their largest lead of the day at 18 points. A layup by
Peyton Kennedy followed by a three from
Brooklyn Gray decreased the deficit back to 12 points, but the Rams continued to answer, not letting the Billikens get closer than nine points in the final seconds of the third period.

Misses and turnovers on both ends of the floor marked the start of the final period in the Bronx, N.Y., before a Rams' 6-0 run increased their lead back to 14 points. The Billikens were able to decrease their deficit back to 11, but dropped their second-straight game to the Rams, falling by 15.

The Billikens shot 34.4 percent on the night, but allowed the Rams to go 32-67 from the field.

Julia Martinez eclipsed 500 career assists in the loss with seven on the night, while adding nine points, four steals and a team-high 10 rebounds. Kennedy led the team's scoring efforts, as her 24 points marked her ninth game scoring 20-plus. McMakin and Gray also reached double figures, registering 15 and 12, respectively.

The Billikens will be back in action Sunday afternoon for a 2 p.m. tip-off against St. Bonaventure at Chaifetz Arena.
