ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis freshman guard
Djordje Curcic suffered a broken foot in the second half of Wednesday's game against Richmond and is out for the remainder of the season.
Â
Curcic will undergo surgery in St. Louis and will be under the care of
Dr. Scott Kaar of SSM Health, the Billikens' longtime head physician and orthopedic specialist.
Â
"We feel terribly for Djordje," SLU head coach
Travis Ford said. "He was playing his best basketball of the season. I know he will rehab very hard and come back better than ever, and we will give him all the support that he needs."
Â
Curcic, who appeared in 18 games this year, had a career-best nine points on three 3-pointers in the win against George Washington. Curcic drilled a trey in each of the last three games and was a key contributor off the bench as the Billikens were already light in guard play due to injuries to
Sincere Parker and
Michael Meadows Jr.
Â
SLU returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Kingston, R.I., to take on the Rhode Island Rams. Game time on CBS Sports Network and KFTK 97.1 FM is 3 p.m. (CT).
