THE BASICS

GAME 1 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•UAPB took an early lead on a second-inning solo home run.
•Saint Louis struck for four runs in the fourth. Newbanks led off with a double and Kelsey Etling followed with a two-run home run to put the Billikens front for good. With two outs, a Chloe Rhine RBI double and a Jocelyn Abbott RBI single made it 4-1 SLU.
•The Golden Lions tallied twice in the fifth to close the gap to 4-3.
•The Billikens plated an insurance run in the seventh. Abby Ulsas led off with a single, stole second and scored on Newbanks' second double of the game.
•UAPB threatened in its half of the seventh, loading the bases with one out. But Strand retired the final two batters to save the victory for starter Taylor Hochman.
