BROOKLYN – No. 14-seed Saint Louis fell to No. 6 Duquesne 83-73 on Wednesday in a second-round matchup of the Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Basketball Championship at Barclays Center.
SLU concludes its season with a 13-20 overall record. Duquesne improves to 21-11 and advances to tomorrow's quarterfinals to face Dayton.
Gibson Jimerson led the Billikens with 22 points, while
Cian Medley had a career-high 15 points and he dished out five assists.
Larry Hughes II went for 11 points, while
Terrence Hargrove Jr. scored 10 points and pulled down a team-high six rebounds in his final game as a Billiken.
Duquesne jumped out to a big early lead, but SLU responded and pulled close in the first half. The Dukes took a four point lead into halftime.
Duquesne exploded out of the gates in the second half and grew their lead to 16 at one point, but the resilient Billikens continued to battle and came all the way to trail by four, but a game-deciding 7-0 run by the Dukes in the second half put them back in front and they pulled away for the win.
Jimmy Clark III led the way for Duquesne with 20 points. Dae Dae Grant had 17.
