ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Saint Louis got contributions from a variety of Billikens in a 73-65 win over St. Bonaventure Saturday in Atlantic 10 Conference men's basketball action at the Reilly Center.
Â
SLU improves to 12-19 overall and 5-13 in the league with the victory. St. Bonaventure dips to 18-12 and 9-9 in league play.
Â
Terrence Hargrove Jr. led the Bills with 17 points, while
Larry Hughes II and
Gibson Jimerson tallied 15 points apiece.
Â
Cian Medley had a double-double with career highs of 10 rebounds and 10 assists. He also scored seven points. Medley is now second all-time in school history in assists by a freshman (115).
Â
Bradley Ezewiro chipped in with nine points and eight rebounds.
Kellen Thames had eight points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field.
Â
SLU led by five at halftime, but the Bonnies quickly tied the score at 28-all early in the second half. The Billikens would go back up by double figures on two occasions, but it seemed the Bonnies always had an answer and they never didn't down quietly on their senior day.
Â
It was a three-point game with four minutes to go. A trey by Jimerson and a traditional 3-point play by Ezewiro gave the Bills another comfortable cushion and they didn't look back in stretching out to the eight-point win.
Â
A strong defensive effort gave the Billikens a 26-21 advantage at halftime. The Bills built a 10-point lead with 5:15 left in the opening half after consecutive baskets by Hargrove and Medley. SLU built an 8-0 run book-ended by triples by Hughes and Medley early as SLU only trailed early on in the opening half.
Â
Next up for the Billikens is the A-10 Men's Basketball Championship at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. SLU will play its first game on Tuesday, March 12. The bracket will be announced later today.
