ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis University baseball bounced back here Saturday afternoon, defeating Dayton 11-4 in the second game of the series.
The win moves Saint Louis to 35-12 overall and 14-6 in Atlantic 10 Conference play, one game ahead of the Flyers' 13-6 A-10 mark. It also marks the sixth time head coach
Darin Hendrickson has led the team to a 35-plus win season.
Similar to Friday's loss, the Billikens found themselves in an early deficit at the Billiken Sports Center, walking a Dayton run home in the top of the first inning. SLU bounced back in a big way, though, with a
Drew Winters' grand slam taking the lead in the bottom of the third.
The Billikens did not trail again, scoring five in the sixth inning to increase their lead to 9-2. Another home run in the seventh, this one by
Easton Richter, boosted the Billikens to 11 runs on the day to help take the game 11-4 in commanding fashion.
On the mound,
Charlie Weber pitched three innings, while in relief,
Ethan Bell got the win, pitching five while striking out seven batters - five of them in a row.
Saint Louis and Dayton will finish their series tomorrow with the first pitch set for 12 p.m. (CST).
