WASHINGTON – Saint Louis freshman pitcher Isabel Royle is the Atlantic 10 Conference softball Rookie of the Week for April 29-May 5, the league office announced Monday. It is Royle's fourth Rookie of the Week award this season.
 
Royle tossed a 10-inning, 1-0 shutout against Dayton, her first collegiate shutout, in her only appearance of the week. She struck out eight and allowed just eight hits and two walks. Royle pitched out of two jams in extra innings, stranding three runners in the ninth and two in the 10th.
 
The left-hander is tied for third in the A-10 with 13 wins (13-5), and she leads the Billikens and ranks fourth in the conference with a 2.51 ERA. In A-10 games, Royle posted team bests in ERA (1.76) and wins (9-3), finishing second and tied for second, respectively, in the league rankings.
 
Saint Louis is the No. 2 seed in this week's A-10 Championship, hosted by Fordham Wednesday through Saturday. The Billikens earned a first-round bye and will see their first tournament action Thursday at 1:30 p.m. Central when they take on either No. 3 Loyola Chicago or No. 6 Saint Joseph's.
