BASE Preview: Billikens Wrap Up Home Schedule Hosting Second-Place Dayton

ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis University baseball (34-11, 13-5) continues Atlantic 10 Conference play this weekend when it wraps up its home schedule hosting Dayton (30-16, 12-5) for a three-game series at the Billiken Sports Center.

  • Holmes (40), Bell (39), Charlie Weber (36), Evan Gray (30) and Jackson Yarberry (30) have all recorded 30-plus strikeouts this season to lead SLU on the mound.
  • Owen Kelly had a strong showing two weeks ago pitching 5.2 innings with a win and a save. He struck out seven total batters and did not allow an earned run.
  • Cole Smith is one of seven A-10  players tied for first in fielding percentage (1.000).
  • Smith recorded 30 putouts against George Mason last weekend, including a season-high 13 against the Patriots in the Friday game. 
  • The Billikens fielding percentage of .977 not only leads the conference but ranks 42nd in the NCAA.
